The start of the poster I am making for my brother's birthday. He is turning 24. Above, I lay out the composition of the poster and established grid lines that I will use as guides for composition.

When drawing, I usually start with the head and face. This is the hardest part, since the drawing has to look like the person.

3

I add the jacket.

4

The whole body is complete now.

5

I add blocks of colors just to fill in areas.

6

Used red, green, and yellow for color scheme of jacket. Represents the Seattle Sonics uniforms for seasons 1995-2001. The color is also similar to my brother's superhero namesake.

7

Added outline of a Boeing 747, my brother is an engineer for Boeing and he works on the 747. Added Philippine Airlines livery, which represents where Robin and I were born.

8

Added ground to suggest that he is standing on a runway. The plane is ready to take off. My brother and the plane both face the direction of flight, a metaphor for the future.

The "R" on the ground is an obvious reference to my brother's name. The color scheme references my brother's superhero namesake's chest badge.

9

Added sunbeams in the sky. The sun is an extension of the sun in the rudder of the airplane.
